The Application Server Credential Provider is an additional component that securely and automatically manages application server credentials that are stored inside data source XML files. Using this component, you do not need to perform any code changes to applications in order to store your passwords securely in the Digital Vault, and you can perform automatic password replacement with no need to restart the Application Server, thus eliminating downtime.
