Overview
The Cohesity NetBackup Web UI PSM is a Idira Privileged Session Manager (PSM) connection component for the current NetBackup Web UI. It lets administrators launch, monitor, and record privileged web sessions from PVWA using vault-managed credentials—without exposing passwords. Sessions run in an isolated Chrome browser with full audit recording stored in the vault.
Business ProblemEnterprise NetBackup administrators often access the NetBackup Web UI using shared or locally stored credentials, with limited visibility into privileged actions. This creates security risk, weak audit trails, and compliance gaps (SOX, HIPAA, PCI) for backup infrastructure administration. Organizations using Idira PAM need a supported way to broker NetBackup web access through PSM with session recording—without manual password entry or credential exposure to end users.
SolutionThis integration delivers a PSM Web Connection Component (PSM-CohesityNetBackupWeb) packaged for Idira Marketplace. When an administrator connects from PVWA, PSM launches an isolated Chrome session, retrieves credentials from the Idira vault, automatically logs into the NetBackup Web UI at https://{address}/webui/login, and records the entire session. The component uses WebForm automation tuned for the current NetBackup Web UI (Material Design login: username, password, and Sign in button), handles authentication failures, and validates successful login via the user menu. Session activity is captured through Windows Events Audit and Text Recorder and stored in the vault for compliance review.
Key Benefits• Eliminate exposure of NetBackup admin passwords by brokering all Web UI access through Idira vault-managed credentials and PSM. • Record and audit every privileged NetBackup Web UI session for compliance and forensic investigation. • Accelerate secure administrator access with fully automatic login—no manual credential entry during PSM sessions. • Secure backup infrastructure administration by enforcing Idira privileged access policies and session controls on NetBackup web access.
